I hacked Jason Levin

F%@$K

Sup nerds,

(I’ve always wanted to say that hahah)

It’s Jay Yang here.

Now you might be wondering:

Who the hell is this guy and why is he in my inbox?

Totally fair.

Before Jason finds out I’m here, let me explain.

When I was 15, I kept seeing people like Jason launching things online.

Making products.

Meeting their heroes.

Getting paid to basically be themselves on the internet.

It didn’t feel real.

I figured there had to be some secret - some insider playbook I didn’t have access to.

But instead of overthinking it, I just started doing things.

I tried a music promo YouTube channel.

I started a clothing brand.

I ran Instagram theme pages.

None of them made me rich (bummer).

But none of that time was wasted. Each failure taught me something.

How to spot opportunities. How to test ideas.

How to adapt when things didn’t work.

Most importantly, I learned that action - any action - is the best antidote to doubt.

My first real breakthrough came when I cold-emailed Tyler Denk, the CEO of beehiiv, with a pitch for a course. There was no job listing. No warm intro. Just a Google Slides deck and a ton of unfounded ambition.

Two weeks later, I was working directly with Tyler and the marketing team.

A few months later, I found out AppSumo founder Noah Kagan was looking for newsletter help. So I dropped everything, created a 19-page pitch deck, and sent it cold. Six months later, I was his Head of Content.

Since then, I’ve helped market Million Dollar Weekend (a NYT best-seller), grown a six-figure content agency, and most recently self-published my own book.

It’s called You Can Just Do Things.

If you’ve ever felt stuck - like you need permission, more experience, or a perfect plan before you can start - this book is for you.

It’s NOT a self-help book with generic hacks or hustle bro tactics. It’s a practical guide for students, creators, and ambitious people who want to build momentum before anyone gives them permission.

Inside, I share:

  • Real stories of people who rejected the traditional path

  • The cold email that landed me my first internship

  • The TAG Method I use to take initiative and stand out

  • And the mindset that helped me go from “who’s this kid?” to working with 7- and 8-figure founders

This is the book I wish I had when I was 15.

Oh shoot… Jason’s cursor just popped up.

I think he’s logging back in.

Before he resets his password and kicks me out, you can check out the book here:

Thanks for reading.

And remember: You can just do things.

Your hacker pal,

Jay
